Welcome to the Middle Ages. For over a thousand years, the walls of this castle have been silent witnesses to intriguing stories, rivalries and plots.

They have seen hundreds of children grow and enjoy the merriment of court games, and could tell us about stories of true love and secret love affairs. They would also be able to tell us about the horror of bloodshed due to revenges and retaliations, as well as countless Christian wedding celebrations and Pagan festivals.

Our cuisine is mainly based on traditional dishes from the Chianti region. Our menu is flexible to the requirements and suggestions of our guests. We use fresh and locally-sourced ingredients in all of the dishes we prepare. 

We use the Castle’s very own IGP Tuscan extra virgin olive oil, local cold meats and cheeses, and game from our hunting grounds, such as pheasant and wild boar. The seasonal vegetables we grow in our gardens also allow us to fully satisfy and respect the dietary needs of our guests. Castle of Bibbione - venue full of history for an unforgettable wedding in Italy

Erected by the Cadolingi of Montecascioli, the Castle of Bibbione, in Chianti region, is documented in the very ancient manuscripts from the year 997 by the name of Castrum Bibionis. 

Surrounded by city walls, which in the past served as a final defence for its inhabitants, the Castle dominates a medieval village and ancient houses dot the slope of the hill. Its lands extend to below the Via Cassia and the Pesa River, between Florence and Siena. The foundations of the Castle go back to the 9th century and the construction was completed in year 1000, while the first group of stone farmhouses dates back to the latter half of the 13th century. In the Renaissance, the battlements were removed and the fortification was then transformed into a country residence.

Bibbione Castle is composed of farmhouse with pool on the Chianti hills and a villa with private pool which can accommodate up to twelve people, four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

The apartments of the farmhose can accommodate from two to six people. Apartment guests have access to the shared pool open from May to October that overlooks the hilly landscape of the Chianti area, between Florence and Siena.

The villa "Il Poggio" is a farmhouse surrounded by olive trees that enjoys a splendid view of the Tuscan countryside, surrounding the whole area of the Castle of Bibbione. The villa can accommodate up to twelve people and gives access to the beautiful pool surrounded by greenery of the private park.

Holidays in the winery of Petrolo, near Bucine, can be spent by the Villa, built in the early decades of '700 by Massimiliano Soldani Benzi, or in four other surrounding farmhouses with 3 swimming-pools. Each farmhouse is completely independent and can accommodate from 4 to 10 people. Villa Petrolo is ideal instead for cerimonies and events, being able to welcome in an exclusive location above 30 guests in 16 bedrooms, vast halls and gardens. The charm of a holiday at Petrolo is tied to its location, which is actually ideal for our wines. 

 

We are right in the center of Tuscany between Arezzo, Florence and Siena and placed on the south-eastern borders of the Chianti hills that overlook the whole Valdarno valley. A landscapes of typical rolling Tuscan hills will welcome you covered with olive groves, vineyards and woods. Three small private lakes at short walking distance add to Petrolo's quiet surroundings. In the past few years Petrolo has been chosen to hold events by art, movie and TV celebrities.
