The Vidago Palace Hotel is set in a magnificent centenary park that deserves a long visit in itself. Open to the public until 7.00 pm, it boasts a wealth of botanic specimens and a peaceful lake hidden amid a splendid profusion of magnolia, plane, camellia, holly, pine and lavender. And, of course, its traditional thermal springs!

Vast and generous are just two of the many adjectives to describe the beautiful park that surrounds the Vidago Palace Hotel. With its hundred-year-old trees, it wraps around the hotel like a protective cloak. Created in 1910, the landscaping is typical of the early 20th century and has survived intact to the present day. Avenues, paths, trails and water features lead visitors through this spectacular grove that changes colour with the changing seasons.

The Vidago Palace Hotel reopened in 2010 following major refurbishment work. The splendour and sophistication of the past have been preserved intact, along with bygone standards of service and hospitality. 

Deeply rooted in the collective memory of several generations, the hotel harks back to the way life was lived in the great aristocratic households of the Belle Époque. The best craftsmen in each speciality were taken on to restore to the hotel to the brilliance and aura it possessed from old times. A duo of Portuguese architects - José Pedro Lopes Vieira and Diogo Rosa Lã – masterminded decoration of the interior spaces, while the Thermal SPA and the Club House are the work of the highly regarded architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.

Since 2007 Vrachia changed its profile and became a more professional tourist resort offering hotel facilities and operating as a small hotel.
