A former noble residence built in the 17th century with notable ties to Malta’s recent history, Palazzo de Piro has been extensively remodelled and modernized to become Infinitely Xara’s flagship multi-cultural venue..

Villa La Torrossa - 15th century palace to celebrate love in Italy...

The original nucleus of the building can be traced back to the XV century, when it was the Parenti family's "palace". 

The small frescoed tabernacle depicting the crucifixion, located in the main hall, and the grand fireplace bearing the stem of the Bellacci family belong to the same period. 

The villa was later owned by various families: the Mazzei, the Pratesi and, from 1760, the Perini. The Neo-Gothic style architectural features - including the tower that gives the villa its name - were added in the years between the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries. 

At the end of the nineteenth century, the celebrated painter and engraver Arnold Böcklin used the villa as his residence in Fiesole, before acquiring, in 1895, Villa Bellagio. Located only a few hundred metres from Villa La Torrossa, Villa Bellagio became his definitive residence and is known today as Villa Böcklin. 

During the mid 1930s, the villa became the residence of the Chilean scupltor Rebeca Matte Inhiguez, who used the large building behind the villa as her workshop. Various works by Matte, in particular copies of famous classical sculptures, can still be seen in the grounds: a copy of the "Nike of Samothrace", the famous Greek sculpture now displayed at the Louvre, dominates the garden from above.

The Vidago Palace Hotel is set in a magnificent centenary park that deserves a long visit in itself. Open to the public until 7.00 pm, it boasts a wealth of botanic specimens and a peaceful lake hidden amid a splendid profusion of magnolia, plane, camellia, holly, pine and lavender. And, of course, its traditional thermal springs!

Vast and generous are just two of the many adjectives to describe the beautiful park that surrounds the Vidago Palace Hotel. With its hundred-year-old trees, it wraps around the hotel like a protective cloak. Created in 1910, the landscaping is typical of the early 20th century and has survived intact to the present day. Avenues, paths, trails and water features lead visitors through this spectacular grove that changes colour with the changing seasons.

The Vidago Palace Hotel reopened in 2010 following major refurbishment work. The splendour and sophistication of the past have been preserved intact, along with bygone standards of service and hospitality. 

Deeply rooted in the collective memory of several generations, the hotel harks back to the way life was lived in the great aristocratic households of the Belle Époque. The best craftsmen in each speciality were taken on to restore to the hotel to the brilliance and aura it possessed from old times. A duo of Portuguese architects - José Pedro Lopes Vieira and Diogo Rosa Lã – masterminded decoration of the interior spaces, while the Thermal SPA and the Club House are the work of the highly regarded architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.
